UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST (PART 4)

UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST (PART 4)

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Being in the last days, Satan is pulling out all of the tricks up his sleeve so he can accomplish his ultimate goal – sowing discord among God’s people.
We have to be very watchful and discerning of his tricks.
His primary and most effective trick is
1. Distorting Truth –
Having various interpretation to scriptures is not a bad thing as the Holy Spirit gives various interpretation to suit various needs at a particular time. The problem is when one interpretation begins to feel and act more superior to others, that is- taking one passage of scripture or principle and assigning it disproportionate importance, thus alienating themselves from the general body of Christ. There is also misinterpretation of scripture which encourages disagreements among believers, all these have been the basis for churches and denominations throughout history to criticize and further separate from one another.

  1. Putting Little “c” Before Big “C”.
At the call to ministry, it is mostly to advance the Kingdom (The big “C”) but often times, the called begin to find their focus gradually narrowing to advancing the interests and benefits of a single congregation (little “c”). Attempts to grow a church can come at the expense of the Church. It is like working so long with a client that you forget you were employed by the firm to work A firm, and this always undermines the interests of your original employer. Every church leader must begun to redress their calling. None was called for “A” church, the call is for “THE” Church and it must show in how we speak and act towards other part of the body of Christ.
It is only when we are thus united in purpose that the power of God can be undeniably evident that the world cannot deny the Church.

PRAYER FOR UNITY
1 Peter 3:8
“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous”.

  1. Holy Spirit, please enable the church to serve you with openness and love. Let brethren operate in love, and let us submit to the leadership of your Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus.
  2. Father, please bring the body of Christ together and let us act as a team. Grant each believer a loving heart to accommodate his/her fellow Christians. Let every denomination put prejudice aside and submit to your will by demonstrating true love toward others in Jesus name.
  3. Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that you help us mortify every work of flesh in our lives, so that we can faithfully serve you and be truthfully committed to one another.

Amen.
